Support Nadin Geissler!

We — the team at the Lithuanian charity foundation Action4Life — are launching the international campaign #Action4Nadin in support of Nadezhda Rossinskaya (Nadin Geissler), who has been sentenced in Russia to 22 years in prison for providing humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine.
 

Nadin became a target of the Russian authorities precisely because she coordinated deliveries of medicines, food, and essential supplies to residents of Ukraine’s border and occupied territories, and assisted people who were forcibly deported to Siberia.
 

A volunteer and activist of German heritage, Nadin helped people during the war. Her ancestors, victims of Stalin’s repression of ethnic Germans, were exiled to the Volga region. Today, Nadin herself has become a victim of political persecution—for showing solidarity with Ukrainians.
 

Nadin’s story exemplifies how the Russian authorities persecute women who openly oppose the war and help those in need.

The Russian prison system is inhumane; for political prisoners it becomes a place of systematic torture and the deliberate destruction of health. Nadin is currently in a Russian prison. Her health is rapidly deteriorating: her chronic conditions have worsened, and she is not receiving the treatment and medical care she needs. Under these circumstances, every day may cost her life.
 

We call on the international community and the German authorities to demand her immediate release—or her inclusion in a humanitarian exchange—and on the media to tell Nadin’s story. We must act now to save her.

Nadin’s final words in court:

«I awarded myself the right to be considered a mother of many children. A mother to all the children I was able to help.

…It is impossible to destroy the truth embodied in tens of thousands of people who received aid, and millions who witnessed it. I fought for every human life by all possible and impossible means. But I am not a criminal, not a murderer—and there is not a drop of blood on my hands. My primary goal is not to be free, but to remain human.»

A Russian court convicted Nadin Geissler of «assisting terrorist activities» and treason. Any public statements such as «Nadin is not guilty» may be interpreted by Russian authorities as «justifying terrorism.»

According to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation:

• Article 205.2 — «Public calls for terrorist activity or public justification of terrorism» (up to 7 years of imprisonment);

• Article 205.5 — «Participation in the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist» (up to 10 years of imprisonment);

• Article 280.1 — «Public calls for violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation» (up to 5 years of imprisonment).
